The lawyer for the Florida rapper confirmed that Foolio, an independent artist with almost a million monthly Spotify listeners, was shot and killed early Sunday morning while celebrating his birthday.

Police said that there was a shooting early Sunday morning at a hotel in Tampa, Florida.
Foolio was the only person who was confirmed dead after three others were hurt.
In the parking lot of a Holiday Inn, the shooting happened just before 5 a.m. ET.
“Two cars were shot at,” said Joneé Lewis, public information officer for the Tampa Police Department, as reported by Fox 2 Now News. “This is early in the investigation.”
In a press release, Tampa Police Public Information Officer Jonee’ Lewis said, “The victim in this morning’s shooting is believed to be Charles Jones.” News4JAX reported this.
“The Medical Examiner’s Office needs to confirm the positive identification.”
Foolio’s lawyer, Lewis Fusco, also said on his own Instagram Stories that the rapper had died.
“Fusco Law Group has been honored to represent Charles Jones, professionally known as Foolio, for several years.”
“It is with deep sadness that we confirm Mr. Jones passed away early this morning.”
Reports say that Foolio was having a party at a nearby Airbnb for his birthday.
The rapper promoted the party on his social media pages, but it got too crowded very quickly, so the police had to shut it down and kick people out.
After that, Foolio and his friends went looking for another place to party, which is how they ended up at the Holiday Inn.
“While the events involving our client, Mr. Charles Jones, have been disclosed by law enforcement, we are unable to provide further comments at this time until additional details become public record,” said Fusco’s statement.
“We kindly request that the privacy of Mr. Jones and his family be respected during this difficult time.”
Foolio seemed happy in a scary tweet sent just days before he was shot and killed. It was his birthday.
He tweeted, “God thank you for letting me see another year and celebrate another birthday.” He also added several happy emojis and said, “appreciate all the birthday wishes so far.”
Mani B, the rapper’s alleged girlfriend, also shared her sadness on social media.
It was you who took my boyfriend away. She tweeted, “I hate you all, and I won’t be the only one crying.” She also included a small broken heart emoji.
