FBI’s Patel Instructs Staff, For Now, To Pause DOGE Email Responses

FBI Director Kash Patel instructed FBI employees not to respond to an email sent by Elon Musk, asking federal workers to list their weekly accomplishments. The email, originating from Musk’s direction, was part of an initiative to assess the productivity of federal employees. Patel clarified that the FBI would handle any responses to inquiries from the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and advised staff to pause any replies for now. Similar instructions were given by the State Department, which stated it would respond on behalf of its employees, with no obligation for individual staff to reply.
